The V Pen Communication Starter Pack is a great way to get started with the V Pen, whether you decide to use one of our pre-printed spelling boards or create your own 'talking paper' communication books and boards using Voice Symbol software.

Software requirements
To run Voice Symbol, your computer must meet the following minimum requirements:

Symbols, photographs and words
Voice Symbol includes about 11,000 Uni-syms in 5 different formats - colour or black simple line drawings, colour or black realistic line drawings, and photographs. These symbols all have sound files attached.
You can also import any other type of symbol or photograph into Voice Symbol, as long as you have it stored in one of the standard picture formats (e.g. jpeg, gif, tif, wmf, etc).
Voices
As well as accessing around 45,000 English words with a male and female pre-recorded voice, you can add recorded speech to your communication boards, or use text-to-speech synthesised voices. Most computers will include Microsoft TTS voices and you may have some others, but you can also purchase additional voices separately, for example Acapela (see related products below), Cereproc, Ivona or Cepstral TTS. Details are included in our product support pages advising where you can buy these voices.
You can also import .mp3 and .wav sound files (e.g. music, sound effects and vocabulary recorded via other software)
Printing code - Important: All of our V Pen product bundles now include a printer, to guarantee you great results.
We include a Canon iP3600 inkjet printer, but if you wish to use your own printer, please let us know and we will reduce the price of your bundle.
